At the end of the 1950s, UNIC, a French car and truck manufacturer, had an ageing range of bonneted trucks.

In addition, competition with other French manufacturers (Latil, Panhard, Renault, Somua) was fierce.

In 1961, UNIC presented the first trucks with a forward cabin.

In 1962, the range was extended by the Esterel cabs. These can be equipped with 6-cylinder engines and the total rolling weight is 35 tons! 

 Here is the Esterel tractor, inspired by the DINKY TOYS models, with its trailer in the colours of the TOTAL oil company.

The tanker has a folding stand and can be detached from the cab.

The headlights can be illuminated.

The tank can hold water. This can then be drained through a tap at the bottom of the cab.
