If the marketing people had had their way - there should never have been a Golf GTI. Fortunately, a handful of enterprising engineers disregarded this and created a vehicle whose abbreviation is still synonymous with sportiness in the compact class today.

The first Golf GTI was available in just four colours - we opted for polar white. Because for us it is the best contrast to the otherwise black painted surfaces and trim of the first Golf GTI.
