When the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was unveiled in New York in 1954, it caused a veritable storm of enthusiasm. Visitors and journalists alike were impressed by the breathtaking combination of high-quality technology and aggressive appearance. The striking gullwing doors, which were the result of the tubular frame chassis, made the ‘SL’ the dream car of an entire generation overnight.

Even though the vast majority of 300 SLs are kept in their original condition by their owners or have been restored to such condition - there are exceptions.

A truly exceptional version was ordered in Venezuela in 1956 in an elegant turquoise shade. This unique car later embarked on a remarkable journey, first returning to Germany before ultimately making its way to Monaco.
