Mercedes-Benz 450 SL (US version) 1979 Yellow 1:18

When the third generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL, the R107 series, was launched in 1971, no one could have guessed that it would remain the Stuttgart-based car manufacturer's flagship model for 18 long years. Friedrich Geiger's design established the visual appearance of Mercedes-Benz in the 1970s and was continued in the W116 S-Class (1972) and the W123 mid-range model (1976).

The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class played a prominent role in numerous films and TV series of the 1970s and 1980s. Alongside Eddie Murphy, Richard Gere, Larry Hagman and Patrick Duffy, actress Stefanie Powers from the TV series ‘Hart to Hart’ was also among the drivers of an SL. Two different SLs, painted in different shades of yellow, were used during filming.
