Contrary to the late-1960s automotive trend towards front-wheel drive in the compact car segment, Opel remained committed to its proven rear-wheel-drive layout for the third generation of the Kadett. Among the five body styles, the Kadett Coupé is widely regarded as the most attractive, and selected regional Opel dealers also offered exclusive special editions based on this model.
One such special edition is our black Opel Kadett GT/E, which was available in 1977 from an Opel dealer in Ludwigsburg, Germany. At the time, dealers often ordered several identical cars directly from the factory and enhanced them with distinctive decals and sporty accessories, creating unique dealer editions that are highly appreciated by collectors today.
