Faced with increasing competition, Renault launched the Supercinq GT Turbo to replace the Renault 5 Alpine Turbo.
Introduced in 1985, this sports model marked the arrival of a new generation of high-performance compact cars.
In 1987, the car received major styling and technical upgrades with the introduction of the Phase 2 version.
To celebrate its rally successes, Renault launched the limited-edition Alain Oreille series in 1989.
