Oldsmobile Toronado 1966 1:43 - n°276
Introduced into the Corgi range in April 1968, Corgi 275, the Rover 2000 TC, was one of the famous ‘Golden Jacks’. Available in green or white, it was only the second ‘take-off wheels’ model, following the launch of the Mini Marcos (Corgi 341) the previous month. The features didn’t end there as the Rover was also given an attractive yellow-tinted sun roof. And because the actual car famously featured a spare wheel on top of the boot, Corgi followed suit with a small plastic encloure that popped open to reveal a miniature spare wheel! Despite all these exciting features, 275’s casting was based on the much earlier Corgi 252 Rover 2000, which dated back to 1963.
