In January 2022, the World Rally Championship moved into the hybrid era with the introduction of the new Rally1s, which replaced the World RallyCars introduced in 1997. Sébastien Loeb and Sébastien Ogier were at the start of the Monte Carlo Rally, each driving a different Rally1. Following a superb battle between ‘the two Sebs’, Loeb ended up winning the 2022 Monte Carlo Rally after his rival suffered a puncture on the penultimate stage. It was his 8th victory on the ‘Monte-Carl’, his first rally in a Ford and his first rally co-driven by Isabelle Galmiche! He also became the first winner of the hybrid era in the WRC, a historic moment in many respects!
