In 1972, Jean-Claude Andruet (nicknamed ‘La Panique’) was one of Alpine's official drivers. It was only logical that he should be at the start of the Monte Carlo Rally. Nevertheless, this 41st edition of the ‘Monte-Carl’’ did not smile on the Alpine drivers. Andruet finished 26th, just behind his team-mate Bernard Darniche!
