The second-generation Fiat 500 (N to R) is a model of car produced by the Italian manufacturer Fiat in Italy between 4 July 1957 and 1975. It was invented by Dante Giacosa. Replacing the first-generation model introduced in 1936, it was codenamed ‘110’ for the saloon and ‘120’ for the Giardiniera version.
It was called the ‘Fiat Nuova 500’, or ‘New Fiat 500’, to distinguish it from the earlier Fiat 500 model marketed from 1936 to 1955 with the nickname ‘Fiat 500 Topolino’ or ‘Mickey Mouse’.
