Mercedes Benz 300 SL 1954 Black Jet-car 1:43
€8.33
In February 1954, the Mercedes 300 SL (W198) was presented at the New York International Motor Show.
The car was based on its 300 SL racing car (W194) counterpart. indeed, at the request of Austro-American car salesman Max Hoffman, Daimler Benz decides to put the 300SL into series production.
Alongside body changes and improvements came technical evolutions and innovations, such as the fuel injection system and lightweight tubular chassis.
It was one of the first GT (Grand Touring) cars.
The 300 SL (W198) is certainly recognisable by its ‘Butterfly’ or ‘Gullwing’ doors, which can be opened on our miniature.
The real car was available in a number of different body paints. We chose black for our model.
